Student organizations at IUSM complement the learning that takes place in the classroom. The organizations fall into these categories:

Student organizations at IUSM complement the learning that takes place in the classroom.

Medical Student Council (MSC) is comprised of executive officers, regional liaisons, and class officers elected by each of the cohorts. The MSA Office of Mentoring and Student Development provides support for the MSC.

Medical Specialty Student Interest Groups (SIGs) are groups of students who have an interest in a particular medical specialty. These groups typically have a faculty sponsor who practices in the specialty.

Service Learning Projects at IUSM are numerous and varied. The Office of Medical Service Learning (OMSL) supplies advice and support. The projects are organized and led by student leaders.

National Medical Organization SIGs include the AMA, AMWA, CMA, SNMA, and UAEM.

Special Topics SIGs may be organized around, service, current health concerns, cultural interests, or other themes.
